At our Silent Vigils, we lift up messages of love, inclusion, and justice to our neighbors driving by and to Lynchburg City Council before its meetings. We share a vision of what our community can become when we act from these core values.

What to Expect
Who can participate?
Everyone who shares our core values of love, inclusion, and justice. Nonviolent Lynchburg brings together people of faith from many congregations—and secular allies who share our values. You are welcome!
What’s it like?
Hopeful! Empowering. Rejuvenating. The overwhelmingly positive response from people driving by is encouraging, and it is good to gather with people who share our values.
Why is it a silent vigil?
Silence helps people slow down and read our signs. It also gives us an opportunity to quiet our minds and listen to the sounds of our city. Some of us pray for our community. Others reflect on our hopes for our city.
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, with a welcoming smile and wave for our neighbors driving by. Bring a sign with a positive message for the world we want to build, or use one of ours. Bring water, especially in hot weather. Lawn chairs are welcome if sitting is better for you. Be prepared for the weather; we vigil even if it rains.
Where should I park?
Street parking can be a challenge, so give yourself time to find a spot and walk a block or two. Carpooling is a great option!
